One Millionth Ounce Of Gold At Detour Lake
TORONTO - Detour Gold Corporation reported that the Detour Lake Mine poured its one millionth ounce of gold on September 16, approximately thirty months after pouring its first gold bar on February 18, 2013.
To mark this occasion, Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines, local mayors and Aboriginal leaders are visiting the Detour Lake mine.
Paul Martin, Detour Gold's President and CEO, commented, "We're pleased to celebrate this significant achievement in just over two and half years with our employees, contractors and Aboriginal partners. Our goal is to ensure that our next millionth ounce of gold is produced with improved operational excellence, strong environmental stewardship and a leading safety culture."
